Welcome to the web-site of the "Rare Books from St. Petersburg" publishing house.

Our books represent a combination of different art forms - printing, binding and illustration - each governed by a unifying artistic idea. The manufacture of such a book implies the application of outdated but unavoidable techniques such as type-setting by hand, relief printing, a hand-made cover and inner book - all of these emphasis the uniqueness of each individual copy.

Apart from individual binding, original illustrations, hand type-setting or handwritten text, they are also made unique by their small print-runs - generally of no more than 25 copies, and in some cases only two, or even one copy.

Some books are held by the State Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg, the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Engravings Room in Berlin, the Bavarian National Library in Munich, the New York Public Library and the Russian National Library in St. Petersburg.
The State Hermitage museum presented three exhibitions of books made by our publishing house.
