One of the means of expression used in the design of the book is the figured cut-outs in some pages made in the shape of the devices used for the suits on French playing cards, which serves as a sort of metaphor for Casanova’s adventurous life, full of passions and gambles.
The endpapers and half-titles are decorated with debossing, again in the form of card suit symbols – a cross-like version of the clubs trefoil and a heart, both reminders of Casanova’s hot-blooded nature and his inconstancy in love.
The title of the book on the spine and the frames enclosing the front and back covers are made of brass.
The book has a storage case decorated with fabric.
