Exhibition: The Curiosity Chamber of Books

From 1 April to 7 June 2009, the Rotunda of the Winter Palace was the setting for the exhibition The Curiosity Chamber of Books at the State Hermitage Museum featuring volumes from the State Hermitage’s Research Library, the oldest museum library in Russia. 
 
The display contained 128 bibliographic masterpieces that differed from traditional manuscripts and printed publications in having an unusual shape, size, cover design or method of binding. They included creations of the Rare Books from Saint Petersburg publishing house: The Sagas of Icelanders, The Decalogue (Exodus 20:2–17), and Tamara Bukovskaya’s Giacomeron.
