Andrei Pakhomov (1947-2015)

Born in Leningrad, USSR in 1947. Died in St Petersburg, Russia in 2015.

Studied in the graphic art faculty of the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture in Leningrad from 1965 to 1971, under his father, Professor Alexei Pakhomov.
   
Graphic artist. Worked for the magazine Neva from 1965. Became a member of the Artists’ Union of the RSFSR in 1973. Taught lithography in the graphic art faculty of the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. Senior lecturer of its Department of Graphic Art from 1987 and Head of the Department from 2002. Had his own teaching studio specializing in book illustration. Became a member of the Artists’ Union of the RSFSR in 1973. Made an Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation in 1999 and Actual Member of the Russian Academy of Arts in 2008.  Participated in more than 150 exhibitions in Russia and abroad since 1966. His graphic art and book illustrations won prizes and awards in Russia and abroad.

His works can be found in the State Hermitage, Russian Museum, Research Museum at the Russian Academy of Arts and National Library of Russia, the British Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin, the Kupferstichkabinett in Dresden, the Bavarian State Library in Munich, the Albertina in Vienna, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Paris, the Louvain-la-Neuve Museum in Belgium, the Museum of Literature in Budapest and other museums and private collections in Russia, Australia, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and the USA.
