Vladimir Tsivin

Born in Leningrad, USSR in 1949.
 
Graduated in 1972 from the Mukhina Higher College of Industrial Design in Leningrad, where he studied in the Ceramics and Glass Department of the Faculty of Decorative and Applied Art under Vladimir Markov and Vladimir Vasilkovsky.
  
Member of the Artists’ Union of the USSR from 1975 and of the One Composition creative association (1977–86). Winner of the International Competition in Ceramics in Faenza (Italy) in 1980, 1982 and 1984. Elected a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (Geneva) in 1983. Awarded the Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts in 1999. Won prizes and awards in ceramics and sculpture both in Russia and abroad (including First Prize in the 2002 Open International Competition for a Monument to Joseph Brodsky in St Petersburg). Participated from 1973 in numerous exhibitions in the USSR, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the UK, Hungary, Germany, Israel, Spain, Italy, Canada, Poland, China, the USA, Czechoslovakia, Finland, France, and Switzerland. Had solo exhibitions at the Museum of Applied Art at the St Petersburg Academy of Industrial Art and Design (1998), the State Hermitage (2001) and the Anna Akhmatova Museum in St Petersburg (2001), as well as in galleries in Britain and the USA.
  
His works can be found in museums and private collections in Russia, Europe and the USA. Currently lives and works in St Petersburg.
