Alexander Voitsekhovsky
Born in Moscow in 1964.
Widely travelled since childhood, first with his prospector father and then as a member of archaeological expeditions. Dreamed of finding a job connected with travel. Studied medicine in keeping with family tradition and worked as a doctor for ten years. Began drawing as a student simply to amuse friends and acquaintances.
Had his first exhibition in 1994 on the initiative of friends, a second and third followed. In 2003, after the publication of his book My Never-Ending Friend, Voitsekhovsky gave up medicine and devoted himself exclusively to art. He makes his pictures in a mixed technique – oil pastels, pencil, pen and others. He often accompanies his works with original lengthy captions and his graphic art is inseparable from those texts. Lives in Saint Petersburg.
