Yury Borovitsky
Born in Chukotka in 1955.
One of the most successful European practitioners of small-format graphic art, an outstanding master of the mezzotint technique.
Studied in 1977–82 in the design department of the Mukhina Higher College of Industrial Design in Leningrad. Worked extensively in poster design in the 1980s–90s, while simultaneously mastering etching techniques (especially the mezzotint method). Participant in exhibitions of etchings both in Russia and abroad from 1990. Recipient of numerous prizes at international competitions, including 3rd prize at the “Russia: Italy” International Competition of Graphic Art (Moscow, 1991), Grand Prix at the Gerard Mercator 16th International Competition of Ex-Libris (Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, 1993), and a medal at the 15th International Biennale of Modern Ex-Libris (Malbork, Poland, 1994). Member of the Artists’ Union of Russia since 1992.
His works can be found in private collections in Russia and abroad, as well as in various foundations and museums.
